Day 14
After a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast with Corsican chestnut cake, we drive the short distance to the climbing rock L’Ortale. The access only takes a few minutes. Also on this day we climb a south face, the Poisson d’avril, where the sun heats us up a lot. Nevertheless, we complete four routes and I practice belaying and rappelling. The rock radiates a lot of heat and my feet start to glow. Fortunately, there is a small river in the Restonica valley, where we refresh ourselves after climbing. A relief for the whole body.
As we drive back to Bastia, we pass a wine chateau. There we have a quick look around and buy some souvenirs as well as our dinner: homemade blackberry ice cream and macarons. Not typical as a dinner, but it was so delicious.
In order not to have it too far to the ferry the next day, we sleep at a lookout point in Bastia, which offers a view over the city and the harbour. In the rooftop tent we treat ourselves to a Corsican beer and look out over the illuminated city.
